30th January Lake Titicaca

Woke this morning to fantastic views across the lake and after breakfast we walk down a steep track to meet our boat. On the way down we are overtaken by a family with donkeys obviously going to farm, it is amazing how sure footed the donkeys are on this difficult terrain.
On the way down we can see how the farming is done on terraces and our guide informs us that these were also created hundreds of years ago.
We leave on the boat and collect another group further along the coast. When we reach Copacabana we go up to the church which the Spanish built, it is very grand with the alter made from silver from Potosi and lots of gold everywhere. The wooden doors are interesting with carvings of the original head Inca apparently dreaming of the Virgin Mary.
We also visit Popcorn Street which has many stalls all serving the same thing, popcorn of every type and variety.
A stop for lunch and back on the coach and back to La Paz via the barges and flotilla of boats, a good weekend.
