3rd March Santa Marta

Martin got up and had a pre breakfast swim, found a dive centre and went to about three hostals, I stayed at the Hostal doing the blog. What a star though as he has written off 2 of them and located one with an apartment, it is about 12 pounds dearer than where we are but the difference.... So move hostals and then down to confirm the diving and have some breakfast, as it is 12.45 I guess this is lunch.
Back to the dive centre and we get kitted up in a nice warm wetsuit and wander down to the boat, it is well organised and all our kit we had sorted earlier is on the boat. About 30 – 40 minutes later we drop in to about 30 metres and have a good dive, visibility is not bad but not brilliant, about as good as it gets in the UK but this is the Carribbean!! Lots of coral and quite a few fish, a moray, and 40 minutes fly by. We take the boat to the shore and tie up and are given sandwiches and biscuits and a drink and after our dive interval go on to the next site. This turns out to be a bit of a marathon, the plan is to submerge and swim to 3 rocks, there is quite a current and we are swimming sideways to try to counter it but sadly missed the rocks altogether. We did see a large barracuda who decided to circle us for a little while and one of the instructors shot a lion fish, he said they are not supposed to be there, hmmm.
Good dives but similar so you would not want to spend a whole week here diving, but the kit was good and the centre well organised.
Time for a beer and we booked to go to the carnival on a bus, they know where to go and we can have a drink and not worry abgout driving. This is the second biggest carnival in the world second only to Rio de Janero, we are going on Sunday which is float day, so should be fun.
